ABOUT DR. BARSON
E·MO·TION·AL
IN·TEL·LI·GENCE
noun
1. the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.
As a licensed psychologist, I am trained in a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions such as psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and the Gottman Method I & II for couples treatment. I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment in which I work collaboratively with patients to identify treatment goals and determine what modality of therapy will be best tailored to meet their needs. I believe that the most effective therapeutic relationship occurs when people feel that they have a genuine and safe place to explore issues and vulnerabilities that have caused them emotional distress. Through connection and understanding, meaningful transformation takes flight.
My professional interests include relationship issues, couples treatment, depression, anxiety, and helping those who are struggling with life transitions.
